MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Lisa Kimmelman , Chairperson

The summer months are traditionally the busiest months of the year for our Membership Committee. It is during the summer, especially before the Holidays and the beginning of school, that most people join congregations. Each new family adds to our Temple’s resources and allows us to expand the programming and services we all want. Recruiting new members is surprisingly easy. We are very proud of the programs, services and school of our Temple. Word of our location in Pennington has elicited much excitement within our Jewish communities. Whenever we ask people why they haven’t joined Har Sinai Temple, it’s surprising how often we hear, “We’ve never been asked!” The Membership Committee, with your cooperation, would appreciate the opportunity to talk to these people. We want to tell them about our exciting new Temple, programs, activities, and services. Cut out the coupon below and send the needed information to the Temple office.

Social Action Committee

SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE
Mary Kirsch, Chairperson

Please remember to bring a kosher food item to Temple and place in the JFCS Kosher Food Pantry basket just to the right as you enter the front door EVERY TIME YOU COME TO HAR SINAI.

Community Recycling
Har Sinai has been designated as a Community Recycling Center for the benefit of Jewish Family and Children’s Service. A donation container (PURPLE) is now located next to the Har Sinai Annex to collect good, clean, re-wearable family clothes, shoes and household textiles. The container will be maintained by Community Recycling, a licensed donation acquisition service and proceeds will benefit the Kosher Food Pantry of the JFCS.

We Need Volunteers
The Committee is looking for volunteers to deliver our monthly meals to the Family Preservation Center (housed in the Katzenbach School for the Deaf in West Trenton) the first Thursday of each month. Families or individuals can volunteer for one or more months of delivery. Please contact Mary Kirsch at Kirsch.mary@gmail.com.

Interfaith/Special Needs Families Outreach Committee

INTERFAITH/SPECIAL NEEDS FAMILIES OUTREACH COMMITTEE
Albert Kahn(albertkahn@gmail.com) & Lorell Levy (lorell.levy@ww.p-org), Co-chairpeople

This Fall the Interfaith/Special Needs Families Outreach Committee will begin it’s second year of programming. We are very excited to bring to the Temple on November 1st a thought-provoking film about Temple Grandin. Temple Grandin was diagnosed with autism as a child. She then went on to earn a Ph.D. in animal science and become one of the most respected authorities in her field. She has written and lectured extensively and this movie depicts her life with all of its challenges and achievements. Watch for further information on this event and other committee events.

If there are any other Temple members interested in joining the committee, new faces and new ideas are always welcome! Please contact one of the co-chairs.

Chavurah

NEW! - HAR SINAI CHAVURAH
Ellen Buchsbaum (ellen.buchsbaum@mrmworldwideprn.com) & Paula Gross (friedmanp@unitedtalent.com), Co-Chairpeople

Oh, what a night! Chavurah celebrated the start of summer with an adults-only Chavurah Summer cocktail party on June 12th at 7pm at the home of Mayra and Dave Rosner in Ringoes, NJ. This “bring your own” event brought many delicious dips, desserts and appetizers to share, not to mention cocktails of all kinds. Everyone had a lovely time at the Rosners beautiful home; many thanks to Mayra and Dave for hosting, to Paula Gross for helping organize, and all who attended.

Chavurah is planning to start the new Religious School year off right with a family bowling party on September 12th. Thanks to Alison Greenberg for planning; look for more details this summer. Other events this fall include a trip down to Cherry Hill’s Sahara Sam’s indoor water park.

The Chavurah is a social group at the Temple for members with children enrolled in the Religious School, ages pre-school through Hebrew High. We have both adult-only and family events. If you have kids in Religious School and want to be a part of the Chavurah, please contact Ellen Buchsbaum, Paula Gross, or the Temple office to get your name on our email list. And don’t be shy…we want to hear your ideas!

Fundraising Committee

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
Rick Pollock (RCPollock1@aol.com), Chairperson

This year, this Committee is planning such upcoming events as Honors Brunch on October 25th (hosted by the Men’s Club), Israeli Jazz Ensemble “Seeds of Sun” (November 8th), Gold Night (December 5th), the Wednesday Matinee Club, Comedy Night (February 6th), Horse Racing Nite (April 10th), Casino Nite, and more. The purpose is to raise funds while enjoying the company of your fellow congregants.

The Committee plans and hosts these events with the other arms of the Temple including Men’s Club, Sisterhood, Renaissance Club, the Broadway group and HSTY. The arms enable the Temple to function and it is important for all Congregants to join a committee or two to add valuable insight into the interests and preferences of the Congregation. Assistance with events is always needed and appreciated.

You may contact Rick Pollock, Naomi Griffin and/or Nancy Frost through the Temple office (609-730-8100) for further information. We look forward to welcoming you.
